About Demand Genie

Co-developed by Brandon P. Miller & Thomas J. Waltz beginning in 2021, Demand Genie is a fully customizable, researcher-driven tool designed to streamline behavioral economic data analysis. Built in Microsoft Excel® with integrated VBA scripting, it offers an intuitive workflow featuring interactive buttons, pop-up messages, and clear visual indicators—allowing researchers to focus on their data while retaining full control over analytical decisions.

Demand Genie is designed for researchers who value flexibility and transparency in their analytic approach. As the field evolves, we plan to expand to a web-based platform to enhance accessibility and future-proof our features.

We know that behavioral economic analysis isn’t one-size-fits-all. Different labs have unique methodologies, and research tools should support—not restrict—scientific inquiry. That’s why Demand Genie prioritizes customization, clarity, and researcher autonomy, ensuring your analyses align with your specific needs.

• Customizable Demand Equations – Select from validated models like Hursh & Silberberg (2008) or Koffarnus et al. (2015) to match your analytic approach.

• Adaptive Data Quality Parameters – Set Trend % and Bounce % thresholds to tailor non-systematic data identification.

• Flexible Zero-Handling – Convert zeros as needed (e.g., replace with 0.01) for more precise curve fitting.

• User-Friendly Defaults – Prefer a standardized workflow? Simply hit "Default" to restore all settings with one click.

• Offline & Secure – Run analyses without internet dependency, ensuring full data privacy and compatibility with IRB and institutional guidelines. No need for additional approval from IT security teams.
